Where do you consider "Home"?
My parents moved around a lot when I was younger, so my grandparents' house feels more comfortable to me than anything else. They go all-out for Christmas every year, and it was a magical house to wake up in on Christmas morning. Since I was born the floors have been covered in 70s-era burgundy and mustard carpets, the air has been set on 80 degrees, my grandmother is always in her apron in the kitchen and my grandfather is always falling asleep on the couch in front of Fox News. There is something very cozy about that kind of predictability.

What 2 CDs would you have to have with you on a deserted island?
Cut Copy's In Ghost Colours and The National's Alligator. When I got restless I would put on the former and dance, and when I got lonely I would put on the latter and feel sorry for myself.

What is the TV Show you have to set your TIVO for?
Gossip Girl. The beyond-belief characters, absurd scenarios and sly dialog make watching the show too fun to miss. If you wait until it airs online the blogs will spoil it for you before you get the chance to watch.

If you could hang out with one celebrity for 24 hours, who would it be?
Elijah Wood. I've had a crush on him since I was a kid, and I think he'd make for good company. He wouldn't talk through a PR lens or try to promote himself the whole time. Plus, I could show him the project I did on him in 4th grade.

What is your current Desktop picture?
I just started working here so it's still the vague outer space picture Mac sets as the default. On my laptop at home I have a picture that a photographer friend of mine took; it's a close-up of a bin of vinyl records and a cash register covered with bumper stickers at Schoolkids Records -- my favorite record store in my hometown of Raleigh, North Carolina.

What country would you most like to visit and why?
Austria and Germany. I saw Salzburg (Motzart, The Sound of Music) and Frankfurt briefly when I was in Europe two years ago, but I want to go back and visit Vienna and Berlin. I love learning languages, so my goal is to be able to speak German by the time I return.

What was the last thing that gave you a good belly laugh?
Just sitting around the house with my roommate and watching her cat make faces at us.
-
What is the last song you sang when no one else was around?
Miley Cyrus's "Party in the U.S.A." But come to think of it, other people were around. In general, the more ridiculous the song, the less embarrassed I am to sing it.

What is your favorite concert you've ever attended?
Cut Copy at Cat's Cradle in Carrboro, North Carolina.
-
What cartoon character best describes you?
Nikki from the cartoon Pepper Ann. She's the overly rational sidekick of impulsive, fun Pepper Ann. She's a bookworm, and in one episode her older sister is trying to play a game of catch with her while Nikki just wants to talk about a Joseph Heller novel. Nikki represents the Type-A side of my personality that I am constantly fighting against.
